These liquid drops enable you to take an effective cannabis dose comfortably, accurately and quickly.
The tinctures have shown promising results to stop seizures and tremors in their tracks. Due to such a broad spectrum of benefits, CBD tinctures are attracting widespread media attention.
What is CBD Tincture?
A CBD tincture is a medical solution which is acquired from dissolving cannabis in alcohol. Most commercially available cannabis tinctures come in a half-ounce bottle with a dropper for easy dosing and use. Most CBD tinctures contain 10% to 25% of CBD extract.
A single dose of CBD tincture takes minimal to moderate time to kick in. Only a few drops of the solution will lift your mood and ensure pain relief within 30-90 minutes. And it will all be without altering your mind.
CBD tinctures have been around and used for more than a hundred years in various parts around the globe. Cannabis tinctures were used quite popular in the United States due to its medicinal properties. They were also featured in the United States Pharmacopoeia as a sedative and a painkiller until 1942 when it was declared dangerous for the society.
CBD tinctures offer thousands of people a powerful relief from a variety of ailments without the drowsy or stoned feelings. This property makes these tinctures attractive for children, old people, and anyone who wishes to experience cannabis medical benefits without getting high.
What Do CBD Tinctures Treat?
CBD Tinctures have tons of medical applications while more continue to be discovered. Medical researchers have found that CBD can fight cancer cells as it inhibits cell and tumor growth. It also reduces inflammation by as much as 50% and lessens organ damage from a heart attack by an incredible 66%. CBD has also been proven to treat many other conditions and diseases including:
- Mad cow disease
- Bowel disorders
- Crohn’s Disease
- Skin Issues
- Autoimmune diseases
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Social anxiety disorder (SAD)
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
These CBD oil tinctures produce zero psychoactive effect. Therefore, they offer a new and incredible alternative to addictive prescription medications that produce countless side effects.
If we speak medically, the basic differences between THC and CBD are that THC acts as an analgesic (pain killer), anti-inflammatory, anti-emetic (anti-vomiting) agent. CBD, on the other hand, possesses anti-seizure, anti-psychotic, and anti-anxiety properties.
And the best of all, CBD counters the negative effects of THC as CBD is mostly derived from hemp. The latest clinical research trials exhibit that CBD increases relaxation. Therefore, it reduces the paranoia associated with its cousin, THC.
How to Use CBD Tincture (Dosing)
Sublingual method is hands down the most convenient and fastest way to administer the CBD tincture into your system. The method allows absorption through the veins under the tongue. The medicine infiltrates the bloodstream bypassing the stomach and digestive system, which makes more potent and purer.
However, taking a proper dose of your cannabis tincture actually requires a few steps. Thus, here we share the steps to get the most out of your CBD solution:
- According to your recommended dosage, squeeze a 2-4 CBD tincture drops under your tongue using an eyedropper.
- Move the liquid around with your tongue a few times and also take a few very deep breaths through the nose.
- The last step is to swallow the tincture after about 30 seconds.
Starting with a small dose of 1mL is better as it allows you to assess the potency suitable for you. CBD tinctures contain zero to trace amounts of THC. However, you must know that these solutions can still make you very relaxed and sleepy. So, we advise you not to plan on driving or doing something important until you understand its full effects and are comfortable with them.
Additional Methods to Administer the Tincture
Besides the traditional sublingual method, you can also use your CBD tincture in a variety of ways. You can add it to your favorite food item and can also add a few drops to any condiment, tea, cocktail or candy you like. You can also mix it with salad dressing for some extra zest or dribble a few drops on ice cream to make it more enjoyable. If you want something more comforting in cold winter nights, dissolve a dash in a Hot Toddy and enjoy a comforting and warm night. However, it is not the end because the combinations are practically endless.
How To Make CBD Tinctures?
There are a variety of ways to make a CBD tincture. However, almost all of them involve the use of high-proof alcohol. Alcohol is the standard solvent as it is a great cannabinoid extractor.
However, pure alcohol is not only expensive but also highly flammable. So, it may not be suitable for everyone to use. Therefore, we provide both recipes, one with alcohol and one without.
Traditional Alcohol-Based Tincture Recipe
- Decarboxylate the flower or extract (if you are using the flower then grind it to a fine consistency).
- Then, take a mason jar and mix the flower or extract with a high-proof alcohol (preferably Everclear).
- Seal the jar tightly and let it rest for a few weeks. However, regularly shake it once a day.
- After a few weeks, strain the solution with a coffee filter and there you have it, your own CBD tincture.
You can also use heat to hurry the extraction and concentration process. After the second step, simply simmer the jar in a water bath for 20 minutes at 170 degrees F. With this technique, you will be finished with the recipe within an evening.
Steps to Make Alcohol Free Tincture:
Our high-quality, alcohol-free CBD tincture uses glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a food ingredient which is a 100% safe to use.
Our recipe also uses cold maceration (extraction) because it preserves the integrity of the flower and the terpenes. Furthermore, glycerin’s pleasant and sweet flavor makes it the best additive for sweets and baked goods. So, you will need not to worry about experiencing the unpleasant, medicinal flavor anymore. Here, we must clarify that the glycerin tinctures are slightly less concentrated than the traditional alcohol-based ones. However, it is easily manageable as taking a slightly larger dose gets you the same effects.
- Grind a minimum of 1 oz your high-CBD flower shake and nugs as finely as possible. Depending on the amount, you can use a blender or coffee grinder for the purpose.
- Take a glass jar and place the powdered cannabis and the glycerin into the jar and seal tightly.
- Place the jar on a window sill for constant exposure to sunlight. Allow it to marinate for 4-5 weeks (the longer the better) while shaking it daily to stimulate the cannabinoids.
- After a few weeks, filter the tincture with cheesecloth or sieve to remove the extracted cannabis. We do not recommend to use a paper coffee filter.
- Now, pour the tincture into a dropper bottle and keep it refrigerated.
Glycerin based tincture takes a bit more time than alcohol-based. However, it is rich in terpenes, taste, and stronger healing power.
